Many Christians are looking forward to meeting Christ coming on the clouds of the sky. They think Jesus will come on the natural clouds of the sky. And some claim that Christ Ahnsahnghong cannot be the Messiah because the Bible says “This same Jesus, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” But, they must have not read the Verse immediately before this part.
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:10-11)
The two men in white warned not to look into the sky. It’s because those who look into the sky will not be able to meet Christ. Just as Jesus ascended to heaven in the flesh, so He is to come in the flesh again. Therefore, those who look upon the clouds of the sky cannot meet Christ coming on the clouds.
The Bible prophesies that Christ would come on the clouds of the sky. According to this prophecy, many Christians expect Jesus coming on the natural clouds of the sky. However, the cloud on which Jesus comes is a biblical expression which means “flesh.” That is to say, “Coming on the clouds” means “Come in the flesh”. We can confirm this fact by studying the prophecy about the First Coming Jesus who was to come with the clouds of heaven.
“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven… He was given authority, glory and sovereign power [a kingdom -- KJV]… (Daniel 7:13-14)
This is a prophecy about 600 years before Jesus was born. Some claim that it’s not a prophecy about the First Coming Christ, but a prophecy about the Second Coming Christ. However, it’s the prophecy about the First Coming Christ because He received “authority, glory and a kingdom.” Let’s confirm who received authority, glory and a kingdom through the Bible.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me [Jesus Christ]… (Matthew 28:18)
All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me [Jesus Christ] through them. (John 17:10)
And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one [a kingdom] on me [Jesus Christ] (Luke 22:29)
Who did receive authority, glory and a kingdom? Jesus did. So it’s obvious that the prophecy of Daniel was about Jesus who came 2,000 years ago. Daniel prophesied, “a son of man [Jesus] will come with the clouds of heaven,” but actually Jesus was born as a man. Therefore, we can understand that the “the cloud” on which Jesus comes stands for “the flesh.”
The Bible prophesies again that Christ would appear in the second time (Hebrews 9:28) and come on the clouds of the sky. Then, how will He come at His Second Coming? It’s prophesied that the same Jesus would come again with the same purpose (to bring salvation.) Therefore, He should come in the flesh again.
We must remember the Pharisees and the Jews who had been waiting for their Messiah but they failed to receive Jesus because they thought Christ would come on the natural clouds of the sky according to the prophecy of Daniel. Surprisingly, the same history repeats today. Now many Christians are looking into the sky to meet Christ coming on the clouds of the sky. But they will not meet Christ like the Jews of 2,000 years ago.
How can we recognize Christ who is to come in the flesh? The disciples accepted Jesus who came in the flesh 2,000 years ago because they obeyed and looked into the words of the Bible to receive Christ who came according to the prophecies. We must look into the Bible to meet Christ because the Bible testifies about the Savior (John 5:39.) He has already come according to the prophecies of the Bible. Please come to the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) to meet Christ Ahnsahnghong who has already come to bring salvation.
